PUNCAK SUROLOYO: Singgasana Para Dewa di Kulonprogo

Dalam kisah pewayangan, tersebutlah Suroloyo tempat Para Dewa Kahyangan bermukim. Kulonprogo, salah satu kabupaten di DIY, memiliki Puncak Suroloyo yang konon banyak orang meyakininya sebagai singgasana para Dewa. Apakah benar di situ para dewa berkumpul?

Bisa saja hal itu benar karena puncak dengan ketinggian 1.091 meter di atas permukaan air laut itu terdapat sebuah patung Bathara Guru yang tak lain adalah Dewa Syiwa dalam agama Hindu. Patung itu berdiri di atas Lembu Andhini seolah sedang memandang keindahan panorama di depannya.

SUROLOYO & SULTAN AGUNG MATARAM

Menurut sejarah, di tempat inilah Raden Mas Rangsang, sebelum menjadi penguasa Jawa dengan gelar Sultan Agung, melakukan ritual tapa brata setelah menerima bisikan halus. Petilasannya pun masih bisa dilihat dengan jelas, terdapat tiga pertapaan di puncak ini pada lokasi yang berbeda dan akrab disebut Suroloyo, Sariloyo, dan Kaendran.

PANORAMA LENGKAP DI SUROLOYO

Panorama di Puncak Suroloyo ini sangat elok; kita dapat melihat dengan jelas beberapa puncak gunung seperti Merapi, Merbabu, Sumbing, Sindoro dan jika beruntung, kita dapat melihat kemegahan Candi Borobudur seandainya tidak tertutup kabut.

MENUJU PUNCAK SUROLOYO

Untuk mencapai tempat ini memang sedikit merepotkan karena lokasi berada kurang lebih 40 km sebelah Barat Kota Yogyakarta. Jalur yang biasa ditempuh adalah dari Jl. Godean ke arah Barat hingga perempatan Kenteng belok ke kanan ke arah Sendang Sono, Kalibawang. Setelah menanjak di perbukitan Kalibawang, terdapat persimpangan yang menunjukkan ke arah Sendang Sono dan Puncak Suroloyo. Dari persimpangan itu masih harus menanjak kembali sekira 15 km dengan jalan yang terjal dan sedikit rusak.

Disarankan untuk berangkat dini hari dari Kota Yogyakarta sehingga bisa menikmati keindahan sunrise dari puncak tertinggi perbukitan Menoreh ini.

TOP SUROLOYO: Throne of the Gods in Kulonprogro
